Missionary Work

We had to memorize this in the MTC. I really loved being a missionary. I felt like I had no fear. I talked to everyone whether they wanted to talk to me or not. Next month the lesson I have to teach on is Proclaming the Gospel. I have been praying to have a missionary experience. I need to look for one though and then act.

"Persecution has not stopped the progress of truth, but has only added fuel to the flame, it has spread with increasing rapidity. . . . No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done."

In our stake, our Mission President has the missionaries stand up and recite the Standard of Truth at every Stake Conference. We have memorized it as well, when the Stake Pres. challenged all the members to memorize and stand with the missionaries. The wording we use starts out a little different. "Our missionaries are going forth to different nations...the Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may assemble, calumny may defame......(it is the same as your quote now. It came from a quote by Joseph Smith. (History of the Church, 4:540) I was really proud of Mark, because he memorized it first and stood up. I was determined to know it too and was able to stand the next Stake Conf. and recite it.

Thanks for the comments on my blog, Diana. You are such a sweetie and so supportive of me. I love this quote. I know you were an awesome missionary and that you will have an opportunity to spread the gospel more through faith and prayer. YOu are amazing and a great example to me.

Ahh Joseph Smith- he was really a very intelligent person (with the help of the Spirit, ofcourse.)I read this quote in his journal when he was talking about the persecution that the saints were receiving and how they were to handle it because it was true and the Work must go forward. You are an amazing person Diana! I have tried to reach you on gmail talk, but haven't been lucky lately, I guess I will give you a real phone buzz.
Love to everyone, I am off to Kyler's baseball game!
