Goblin Valley

Last week we took the kids camping for the first time and it went wonderfully. We all had such a good time much to my surprise. We were initially going to leave Wednesday but we decided that leaving in the morning would be much better. Thursday morning (11:00 am) Sharon and Rich along with their cute girls, Kiara and Indigo arrived at our house. The three girls, Kiara, Indigo and Kira were all very excited, they held hands with Kira in the middle and walked to the cars. The drive down there was a lot of fun it took nearly 4 hours because of road conditions but it was quite pleasant. We listened to good music and Harry Potter. When we arrived we set up camp, then took a small hike. The kids did so great, Kiara was a mountain goat, climbing all over the place. Kira got tired quickly (since she decided not to sleep in the car) so Rich being a fantastic uncle carried her most of the way. (Lou was carringJosh). When we got back, we lied Joshy down for a nap, he went straight to sleep.. No fussing :) and the rest of us played primitive bocchi(we played bocchi with rocks we found since we didn't think to bring games) and the boys had a rock throwing contest. We then made a yummy dinner of chicken and corn on the cob. Josh woke up just in time for dinner. After dinner the kids went to sleep. Kira fussed for about 10 minutes, Josh not at all and then the adults were free to enjoy their evening. We enjoyed talking and looking at the beautiful stars. In the morning we were woken by Kira trying to get out of her and Josh's tent, it was really kind of cute. We then all went to Goblin Valley. It was so much fun climbing on the rock formations. If you haven't been I highly recommend it. We ended with a picnic lunch before we headed out. The drive home was so pleasant because both kids slept nearly the whole way. However when we got home we had little time to rest. Our oldest sister, Sandi and her daughter Mckenna came to our house and we all went out to dinner. We had a great time being all 3 sisters together. It usually only happens maybe once a year.

It sounds like it couldn't have gone better. I think it is cool that you take your kids camping while they are so young- I would think it will make future trips that much easier. My younger sister was just in town and left this morning- and I agree that having all your sisters around is just plain awesome. Glad you are back and without incident!

I'm glad it went so well- I was a little worried for you. It's great to have a little getaway, even with the kids. The pictures alone make it worth it! The three of you are cute sisters :)
