Saturday we took a spontaneous drive up to Park City. The drive was absolutely beautiful. I love watching the leaves change colors. I remember when I was in 4th grade I wrote a short story about Charlie the leaf. My teacher liked it so much that it got put in the School Newsletter. (It probably helped that my mom was PTA President). I wish I had the creativity now that I did then, I bet Kira and Josh would really love short stories written by their Mom and illustrated by their Dad. Reading about the Creative writing class that Jill, Michelle, Hannah and Lori went to really got me thinking about writing. The thing is I don't even know where or how to start. I really must take a class or check a book out of the library or something. My Dad is really good at writing short stories. His are real life short stories a lot "harder" and tougher than I could write. I think I would stick towards having kids for my audience.
Anyways our drive was lovely. We ate lunch at Ruby Tuesdays, walked around the factory stores for a short bit then drove home. We got home as the game was getting out (Go BYU) luckily the traffic was bad in the opposite direction. We didn't want to go home because it was too late to put Kira down for a nap but too early for bed. We went to Target, bought Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, got Harry Potter treats (Butter Beer (aka Cream Soda) treacle tarts ( aka spinich artichoke appitizers) and toast (couldn't think of a better Harry Potter name for Sunchips)) We put the kids to bed at 6, then had a Harry Potter night!

Dang, I can't believe your kids went down at 6. That's super early.
Fun for you to go to Park City. I think that place is sort of magical! Love it.
We haven't gotten into Harry Potter at all, but I know a lot of kids around here who like it. I hope you enjoyed your little date night. And, let me know if you write any stories; I'd love to read them. (:
I would be happy to go over what we learned in the class with you. She did such a great job and gave so many ideas for getting started that I have really enjoyed what I have taken the time to record lately.
Love the Harry Potter date night. I started in on the books after the big craze and got through them all so fast. I really like the movies too.
To bed at 6 eh? That just isn't fair/right/normal. You are one lucky woman.
Hannah I would love it if you shared what you learned in the class. We'll have to get together soon to go over it.
Just so everyone knows 6 isn't their normal bedtime, they were just so tired from not getting a nap. They usually go to bet at 7 :)
I LOVE HARRY POTTER! If I could go to Hogwarts, I would. I'm a self-proclaimed Harry Potter fanatic and I love everything to do with Harry Potter. My favorite thing to do actually is to listen to the books on CD--I get a lot more out of it adn I love the guy who reads them. I wish Harry Potter's world was real--I really do. For my writing class I get to critically analyze the Harry Potter book covers--it's actually a really fun assignment!
I've been thinking about a Park City trip for the last few days. I'll bet the ride is gorgeous right now! Maybe next time Alexander's having a bad nap day I'll put the kids in the car and go.
I love your Harry Potter treats! So creative. Why do Jeremy and I never think of cool stuff like that?
Duh, I totally forgot to comment about writing! You should totally start writing! I used to love writing. In college I took a creative writing class. The teacher told me that I should continue to take more advanced classes but of course I didn't. I was too insecure. I regret it all the time. Of course there's nothing stopping me but myself. What woudl be really cool is if you learned a really simple book binding technique, wrote stories, had your husband illustrate and then made them into little books. Your kids would think that was the coolest thing ever--especially when they're older. You could pass them on. . .I'm getting too excited. All I can say is do it! If you want to then make it happen!
Diana- what a fun activity that harry potter reading night is! And the treats sounded awesome. Matt doesn't like ready Harry Potter, Only watching it. I love the books and now you have got me excited about reading them again! I think I have read each book atleast 6 times.
How fun your leaf color changing drive sounds! oh, the leaves are changing slightly here and I can't wait for our drive up to Kolob Canyon in Cedar City, but not until Music Man is over, which will be next Saturday!
I love the picture of Kira reading to her dollies, she is defintely getting older and more fun everyday.. Enjoy it!
I love you, Sandi
