Thursday I went out to get the mail, much to my surprise there was a big manila padded envelope, I noticed the return address before I noticed who it was to, it was from Kaitlin Hanks. I thought hmm that name is really familiar but who? Then when I saw it was addressed to "The Allen Kids" I immediately knew it was from Amy's little girl. I was so excited that the kids got a package I think I had a skip in my step on the way back to the house. When Kira got up from her nap, I had her open it up. There were cute little bags with Halloween treats, she was very excited. One for Kira and one for Josh. Since Josh doesn't really eat candy yet, I am excited that I get to have it. Kira was most excited about the pencil. Thanks Amy for thinking of us.
Thursday night was book club. I was very excited to go, I just love being with my book club girls. It was at Bridget's house this month, she has cats and dogs so I thought I'll be prepared and take a benadryl before I leave. What I didn't know was that Bridget was dogsitting 4 additional dogs. I was a little worried when I got there and she told us, but they were downstairs and I didn't see them the whole night so I didn't think my reaction would be too bad. I was fine during the delicious dinner. Bridget made salmon, salad, rice and broccoli, she got the menu out of Real Simple Foods. We all had such a good time talking about the book and many other things. Towards the end of the night though I found that I couldn't talk for long with out running out of breath. I was starting to feel really bad. That night when I got home I took another Benadryl and hoped for the best. My hope was unfounded though, I was up all night anytime I feel asleep I would wake up about 5 minutes later because I was trying to catch my breath. Luckily Friday Lou didn't have work because it was UEA weekend, he was kind enough to let me rest most of the day, though I still couldn't sleep because of my difficulty breathing. We bought an inhaler and that helped some but not like I thought it would. I was sick all Saturday too, though not nearly as bad, only if I did things, like carry the kids or go up and down the stairs. I thought to myself, man I never want to get out of shape, it would really stink to live this way all the time. We did get out of the house on Saturday for awhile. We went to the mall and bought Kira new shoes and a couple of outfits. Kira was so excited about her new shoes, her new tennis shoes she called her Jazz shoes (as in the Utah Jazz), she came up with that name all by herself. I think we should get free tickets or something for having the youngest avid Jazz fan.
Saturday night we had game night at our house. It was a lot of fun. It was nice to keep busy so that I didn't think about my asthma. Jessie, Timm, Robin, Mark, Hannah and Linc all came. We had a great time. We decided the boys should start their own bookclub they all seem to like the same books, however I doubt it will happen, it's kind of funny to picture though.
Sunday morning I didn't have my asthma anymore but I woke with the worst flu. I slept most of the day, thanks to Lou. I love that my husband is so good with the kids that I don't have to worry about their schedule or anything while I need to rest, Lou knows exactly what they need. This morning I was still feeling lousy, Lou went to work about one, it was nice to sleep this morning and try to feel better.
Oh, while all this was happening with me. I forgot to mention Joshy's ears are still infected and now his oxygen level is a little low, it's not dangerously low though.. Thank goodness. It's at 93%, I don't really know what that means. We have to use a nebulizer with him that gives him a mist of albuteral. I hate how often Josh gets sick but I love that he is still the perfect little kid despite the fact that he's sick. He sleeps 14 hours at night, still takes two naps and is pretty much happy the whole time he is awake. I guess if I have to have a sick kid, it's good to have one like Joshy. I can't wait for the 27th though and hopefully his ear infections will come to an end.

I'm glad you and Kira enjoyed your treats. I'm such a dork, I had stuff for the babies I sent packages to, but I completely spaced it and sent the big kid stuff! It serves me right for trying to get so much mail out with a two year old distracting me. She loved "helping" with the goodie bags, but nostly she just took stuff out that I'd already put in. I'm sure you didn't mind my little oversight, though.
I'm sorry Josh is so sick! You, however, are extremely lucky that he's such a good sick kid. I feel so bad for your little guy, though. . .
Fun times with your friends! I love book club, too. It's such a nice getaway every month. Are you feeling better after being exposed to so many animals?
Sorry you are so sick, Diana. I know the feeling. I've never had allergies till this year and they are here & rampant! I have been a coughing mess every night and am just beginning to get my voice back to normal. I hope yours continues to get better!
I wish Josh could feel good for a long period of time. Poor guy. You have great kids, even when they are tired and sick.
So glad you have such fun friends to hang out with. My sisters & Mom in law were talking about how we should start a book club like you do. Don't know if it will ever happen, but it's fun to dream, right? How often do you meet and how do you pick out the books and all that jazz? How many people are in your book club?
Hope things get better! Love you and am praying for you.

Asthma and the flu?? Yikes. You are so so lucky that Josh sleeps even when sick. You do not even know how lucky you are, trust me! We had to do the nebulizer with albuterol when Eva had RSV. I would hold her on my lap and do it, and it almost put me to sleep.
Hope you're feeling better now. (I ate the candies that were in Eva's goody bag, too!)
That's such a bummer you had a sick weekend--that's never fun! I hope you're feeling better because tomorrow night is the weekly anticipated Lost night! Yay!
What a horrible result from book club. I've gone home with a terrible migraine before, but never with something awful like asthma which turns into the flu. You poor girl. It's a huge blessing that Lou was out of school for UEA so tha the could take care of the kids. I hope you feel better soon!
Oh Diana, I felt so bad that you got so sick after Book Club! I'm sure my obsession with Pinky didn't help either. You are such a trooper, especially having us over for games when you were still feeling so crappy! It was so much fun though, both nights (:
I sure hope everyone is/gets feeling better soon at your house! Poor Josh! Ear infections are not fun - I still remember what they felt like when I was a kid. They hurt, and that's when I was like, 7! I can only imagine how much it hurts for little ones!
