On Friday our ward had their Relief Society retreat. I drove up with Jessie, we left shortly after 5 and didn't get to the house in Salem until almost 6. We had to drive in a big storm, we were commenting on how the little bit of rain just to get your car dirty is kind of annoying and then that's when it started to down pour. We had to drive down Main Street in Spanish Fork with all the traffic lights being out, that's what took so long. When we first got to the house we had dinner, yummy soups, salad and rolls. We then had some free time until the Spiritual program. I was taking part in the spiritual program, our them scripture was D&C 33:17, I was asked to talk about enduring to the end. I think it went really well, the spirit was there and all of our comments related to eachother, there were 3 other girls who talked also. Jessie and I didn't plan on staying too late but once we started to play games well, we ended up being the last group there. We played a fun get to know you game, where you grab toilet paper (you don't know what for), how many squares you grab is how many things you need to tell about yourself. I only grabbed 3, but Jessie grabbed more for me. I thought the game was fun, it was great to start to get to know more sisters in the ward better. A small group of us played Scattergories and Apples to Apples. It was a lot of fun. I think it's so nice that our Relief Society plans this retreat every year. I feel bad for not going in the past, knowing on how much fun I missed out on by not going. Jessie and I finally got home around 1, we were going to watch Bring it On but decided to safe it until Saturday night.
Saturday was pretty relaxing, the kids napped well. Inbetween naps we went to Target. (always a fun thing to do). After the kids were in bed Timm and Jessie came over and we watched "Bring it On" much to Timm's and Lou's dismay. It was a pretty funny movie,I don't know why I hadn't seen it before now. Probably most entertaining though were Lou and Timm's comments.
Sunday I had to teach in Relief Society. I loved it, the lesson went so well. It seemed liked all of us were on the same page. I had planned on focusing more on temple attendance but some how we ended up focusing on Family History work. Even though we read all the quotes I planned and talked about all the things I planned the focus was different than I planned. It's funny how that happens some times. The spirit was definitely there and strong. I was a little nervous, I kind of forgot I had to teach until Friday. I didn't start preparing until Saturday afternoon, but when I was preparing everything seemed to flow perfectly, I did it during the kids afternoon nap, when they woke up I was done. I know not every month will work that smooth, so I need to plan more and prepare more, but this lesson was just one of those special lessons.

Sounds like you had an exciting and eventful weekend. I am glad you got to go to your relief society retreat. Women can be so much fun! Good job on your lesson, too. I haven't see Bring it on either...i will have to do that. (: Thanks for your words of encouragement. Hopefully this sickness will leave soon!
That's rather amazing to me that you forgot you had to teach RS and were able to prepare your lesson and be done with it during the kids' nap time. I must stress too much or think I have to suffer a long prep time because I would have spent the entire evening working on it. How excellent for you! Randy can do that too.
I'm glad your retreat was so fun and that you made it there and back safely, that rain storm was frightening. I think those kind of activities are the best because you end up getting to see a more playful side of the sisters in your ward.
I think Bring It On is hilarious.

What a fun idea the RS retreat is! Our ward doesn't do anything like that but we do have about 3 different groups going on during the month that I think the retreat would just be too much.
I love that picture of Kira in the other blog, I saved it to print out for our family frame. She is getting to be so grown up looking, don't blink! She will be way older soon!
Love ya, Sandi
I wish our ward would do a retreat. We just split and most of the people in the new ward have lived here less than six months. We could really use it!
Sounds like you had a great weekend!
Cute photo of you and Jess. I don't know how anyone can resist the hilarious kitchiness of Bring It On! Even Marc loves it.
