Today was the day for Josh to get tubes put in his ears. I have been very excited knowing that he hopefully won't get as many ear infections but also scared because well he's my baby and any surgery is scary even if it is as routine has putting tubes in ears. I had to get up so early today, 6:10 am. I really can't remember the last time I saw that time of day. Josh was happy when we got him up, I was a little nervous since it was 3 hours earlier than when he usually wakes up. We got to the hospital around 6:45 got checked in shortly after 7 and then just had to wait in a room until they were ready for us. I think the earliness of it all and not having breakfast started to wear on Josh and the fact that he doesn't like going to the doctor's office at all. He was quite the pill when the nurses were weighing him and such but as soon as they left he sat quietly in my lap until they got him. I was disappointed that I was not able to go into the room with him when they put the tubes in but I guess protocal is protocal. The doctor was very nice as were the nurses. I knew Josh was in good hands. My heart did break a little though when they carried him off to surgery and he was screaming his head off reaching for me. I wish I could have held him during the procedure. Josh was only gone for about 15 minutes before they brought him back. The anesthia makes the babies disoriented and dizzy so he cried for a good half hour after he came back to me. We got home around 8:30, Kira was still asleep and Lou was doing homework. We put Josh to sleep as soon as we got home and it is now 2:30 and he is still sleeping. Overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, Dr. Robins is a great doctor and I could tell he cared about Josh. Let's hope the tubes do the trick and he doesn't get anymore ear infections.

I'm glad it's over! We used Dr. Robins too and I love him. I think it stinks that they won't let the moms go back with the babies, it is heartbreaking.
I don't know if I can handle any more tales of how much your kids sleep! :)
So glad it is over and went well! Glad he is sleeping and I hope this doesn't mess up his little routine too much. I think it is good they don't let us go back there- I think after so long I would be bawling too feeling so bad for my kiddo.
When Mya got her arm x-rayed they took Linc back and he said that they said if the dad is there they usually ask him to help because the mom's have a hard time having to hold their scared child still enough and it takes a lot longer.
I'm glad the surgery went well, but sorry about the trauma for Josh! I always hate it when little kids are crying and I can't do anything about it. At least it's over though and hopefully all will be well! (LOST was excellent last night wasn't it?)
Hope Joshy is feeling better soon. Let us know if we can do anything for you, too! I bet that is quite a traumatizing experience for a baby and for you...I feel for you! I'm excited that the prospect of more earaches is less likely! Love you!
How heartbreaking to have your baby taken from you like that. To watch him being taken away with him crying. I can hardly stand thinking about it. I hope that it all ends up being a really good thing for him and you. If he gets fewer ear infections your life will be so much better.
I'm with Michelle. I thought my kids were good sleepers. But he wakes up at 9:30 every morning? What time does he go to bed. If I didn't wake Kaitlin up sometime between 7:00 and 7:15 (I like her to take an early nap. Early nap=early bedtime!) she would probably still only sleep until 7:45 at the latest. Lucky you! Please tell me Kira doesn't sleep that late!
I'm glad things went well with Josh. It's scary to have to be the mom in times like these, but we always get through it don't we? I really hope the ear infections stop after all of this!
