Our Anniversary

I'm back, sorry for the absence. I was sick (just a bad flu) for over a week and didn't feel much like doing anything including blogging. Saturday was Lou and my anniversary. We have now been married for 6 years. I have been saying nearly 6 years anytime being asked the last few months that I almost thought it was our 7th anniversary. I'm stealing an idea from my friend Andrea's blog that I thought would be appropriate for an anniversary post. But first I'll give a quick summary of our weekend. On Friday we went to a John Schmitt concert (that will have to be another post, with how many memories it provoked in me.. Sharon I miss you!) then we went to dinner at Ruby River. After dinner we drove to Salt Lake to stay at Lou's parents. I know sounds romantic, however they're out of town for so we had their gorgeous house all to ourselves. Robin and Mark watched the kids for us Friday night until Mark, Lou's brother could come from his rugby game. Mark watched the kids all day Saturday. He told me "wow you're kids are real easy aren't they? really all you have to do is watch over them they pretty much play by themselves" That made me feel so good, I was a little worried about leaving them for an entire day. I'm grateful that Mark was so willing to watch them so Lou and I could have our little get away.
Now to what Andrea did on her blog

My husband...

What is his name?
Louis David Allen

How long have you been together?
We met on April 29, 2001. (3 years to the day before Kira was born)

Who eats more?
Well overall I would have to say Lou. I am a grazer. I think I always have been, I eat little snacks throughout the day so I am rarely hungry for a lot of food at once. I eat close to kids’ size portions at meals (sometimes I think Josh eats more than I do). Lou doesn't get to graze like I do so he eats more at meals. I do however love treats and Lou doesn't really like anything sweet. (lucky him huh)

Who is taller?
I am 5' 1" actually Lou measured me a few days ago and I was just over 5 feet. I don't know what’s up with that, am I already shrinking? It would be quite sad if my husband was shorter than me. Imagine Lou at 4' 11". Lou is 5'9". As Ryan on The Office PSA would say 5'9" it's not short, it's average, now it's not tall but it's not short!

Who is smarter?
Lou. Lou is a genious, literally. When I was studying school Psychology I had to give him several IQ tests. On one he scored 149 and on another he scored 152. I'd say it's a pretty good representation of how smart he is. Lou pretty much knows everything about anything.

Whose temper is worse?
Sadly mine. I don't feel I have a bad temper but since Lou has no temper whatsoever I'd have to go with me.

Who does the laundry?
I do. Lou is capable at doing laundry and he does it every so often but I do it most of the time. It's okay though because I actually enjoy it.

Who mows the lawn?
the lawnkeepers hired by our condo association.

Who cooks dinner?
me. Lou is a great cook but I try to have it done by the time he gets home. We eat nearly every day at 6:00 so the kids can be to bed in time at 7:00. However if we do have Stir Fry, Lou makes it or grilled cheese.

Who is more stubborn?
me by far. I think Lou has only shown to be stubborn once in our entire marriage.

Who asked whom out?
I think Lou and I went on one official date. Lou and I met at Ward Prayer (a BYU thing). I saw him and thought man I really wish that he would come say hi to me. He did I was so excited. later on in ward prayer he came up to me and invited me to a game night (which he admitted later on that he organized it so fast so that he'd have something to invite me to) after that night we pretty much hung out any spare moment we had. We were engaged 3 months after we met and were married 5 months to the day after we met.

Who kissed whom first?
Lou kissed me on May 8, 2001. So, it was a little over a week after we met. Personally, I’m surprised we made it that long with how much we hung out. We were sitting in the hallway in front of my apartment door. We had been talking for hours and at a very tender moment in the conversation, Lou kissed me. It was by far the best first kiss I have ever received.

Who wears the pants in the family?
Depends on what's going on I think we are pretty balanced in our life together.

I love Lou with all my heart. Lou is the perfect husband for me. I can't imagine being married to anyone else. Lou is the calmest, nicest most easy going man you'll ever meet. I love how Lou helps me to be a better person yet accepts me for who I am. The last 6 years have been the best of my life, I can't wait to see what happens in the next 6!

Happy Anniversary! that is so weird because I kept thinking, "I wonder if Diana is okay.." Then I kept thinking I needed to remember something and look on my calendar and it says, "Lou loves Diana" on the 29th! Imagine that!

Love you two soo much. Feel so lucky to have you as my cousins and friends. Zac adores you both too and we are grateful for the example of marriage and parenting you set. Hope you had a great celebration! love you!

Glad to hear you had a good anniversary. I relish the times when Matt and I get away for just a short time from the kids and daily tasks of life! I liked what you said about Lou helping you to be a better person yet still loves you for who you are. Beautiful.
