A Wonderful Blustery Day/Weekend

Saturday was a perfectly wonderful day. The whole weekend and actually yesterday were so gloriously Christmasy! Saturday afternoon Nana, Gramps and Mark came up to help us pick out our Christmas tree and to go to the mall to see Santa. Kira couldn't imagine doing those activities without her Nana. We went to the mall first so we didn't have to leave the Christmas tree on the roof of the car. Santa was on a lunch break when we got there so we decided to have lunch also. After filling our tummies with yummy food and seeing Santa eating lunch which was just so exciting for Kira, we went back to Santa. We had to wait in line for about 20 minutes but it wasn't too bad. When finally we got to see Santa Kira was very excited and ran right up to his lap. Joshy was fine when he was about a foot away from Santa but as soon as I put him on Santa's lap the tears instantly starting rolling from his eyes. I should've just left him where he was at and we probably could've gotten a much better picture. (no such thing as should've, would've could'ves though, right?) Kira told Santa she wanted toys, a belt, a broom and puzzles for Christmas. She came up with that stuff and her reasons for wanting them all on her own. A belt because she noticed a few days prior to seeing Santa that she too has belt loops on her pants , she told us she wanted a seat belt it took a minute but then we realized she meant a belt. A broom so she can help Mommy clean (she came up with that on her own.. I promise!) , puzzles because she is good at them and toys because she says she wants all the toys. Josh of course didn't say anything but just cried.
After seeing Santa it was time to get the tree. While we were in the mall a wonderful storm started. It was so crazy driving just a few blocks to the Christmas tree lot. The kids just loved playing in the snow while we were picking out the tree. Kira and Nana started to build a snowman, Joshy tried to make snowballs and tried to throw them at people but mainly ended up getting most of the snow on himself. He couldn't stop laughing and squealing with delight. It's one of those memories that I forever want to hold in my heart. Getting home thankfully was uneventful although it took over double the time it normally does.

Sunday we had dinner at Nana and Gramps. We were spoiled to have delicious fish, rice, salad and Christmas jello. After dinner we made sugar cookies. The kids just loved cutting out the cookies. I think Joshy would've done all of them if we would have let him.
Yesterday the fun continued when Alyssa and I went to the Forgotten Carols. I hadn't seen it since I was a senior in high school when we went as a family. (remember family how much fun that was?) . I totally had forgotten the story that goes behind the carols so it was like seeing it for the first time again. Plus this time Michael McLean played Uncle John and when we saw it as a family it was his son who played Uncle John. I really enjoyed it the music is so beautiful, the spirit was very strong. I especially loved the end of the show when he had us link arms and sing "Together Forever" and then had us hum Silent Night. It left me thinking of maybe some one who might need my service this Christmas season.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love Christmas time!

Diana,

What fun times! I just LOVE Christmas time too. It's funny, we got Anna a broom for her last birthday because she was always using our big one to "help" me clean. What sweeties. Adorable pictures of your kids!! It's always fun checking your blog.

What a fun, great weekend! It doesn't sound like it could have been any more perfect. Well, Josh could have sat quietly on Santa's lap, but I like the pictures of kids crying on his lap. They're funny, and so true to life!

I love The Forgotten Carols! I haven't been since college. Every year I wish I had gone. MAybe next year I'll get my act together.
