Year in Review- 2012

1. What did you do in 2012 that you've never done before?

It seems like when you get to be my age there isn't much you can do that you haven't done before.  But one thing that I really enjoyed that I hadn't done before was going canoeing. Sharon took me canoeing on my birthday and I loved it, it was peaceful and quiet.

2. Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions, and will you make more?

I have never been good about resolutions.  I think I am better at setting small goals throughout the year. One thing I wanted to improve on this year was writing in my journals. I have my journal and a journal for each of the kids. From September on I have been very diligent in writing.  I like it it makes me realize my blessings more and it helps me feel the spirit.

I also joined Gold's gym and really love going there. I haven't been good when Lou is home but other than that I go 4-5 times a week.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

My dear friend Robin gave birth to her son Nick. He is a cutie,  I get all my baby holding cravings fulfilled through sweet Nick. Nick is extra special because he is my birthday twin.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

My aunt Melissa died at the end of February. Lou and I were able to go to Florida for her funeral. Melissa had battled cancer for a long time.  It was a sad occasion but I was very happy to see my mom's family that I had not seen in years.

5. What countries did you visit?

None- international travel didn't happen for us this year.

6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?

I don't know we have been really blessed this past year.  I guess a finished house. I am so so tired of remodeling our house.

7.What dates will remain etched on your memory, and why?

January 6- I sat courtside as an invited guest of Greg Miller, the owner of the Utah Jazz. Me and two other Jazz fans ate dinner with Greg and attended the Jazz vs Memphis Grizzlies game.

May 5-  Kira's baptism.

July 20- Lou decided that he should go into business with his cousin Zac which means we will be moving to Boise.

8. What was your biggest achievement this year?

Surviving Lou being gone 99% of the time since September.

9. What was your biggest failure?

I really don't like this question.  I guess not spending my time as wisely as I should.

10.  Did you suffer illness or injury?

Well my thyroid did pretty well this year.  I did have strep throat in February, the usual allergies. This Christmas I lost my voice completely for seven days!

Our new car! A 2012 Camry.

16. What do you wish you'd done more of?

I want to be more proactive about being social, doing things with my friends.  Letting people know how much they mean to me and how much I love them.

17. What do you wish you'd done less of?

I spent too much time on the internet. I need to not be so addicted to twitter etc.

21. What was your favorite music from the year?

I am never into popular music. I like what I like and listen to it over and over. I love my phone it has Muve Music on it and I can download practically any song you could ever think of for free.

22. What were your favorite films of the year?

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close- I NEVER cry at movies and I cried during this movie. I loved it, i loved the book and I loved the movie.

The Phantom Menace- It was so fun to see a Star Wars movie with the kids in the theater

The Hunger Games-  I went with my dear friend Rachelle. I haven't read the book but I loved the movie.

23. What did you do on your birthday?

I had a fabulous birthday with my sister Sharon in Miami.  We went canoeing with Lou and Roman in the moring, after a breakfast of YooHoo's and bagels from Sage.  We took Lou to the airport then when we took Indigo to ballet we walked around the stores on Lincoln Road. We got a yummy chocolate drink from Giordeli's.  We went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant with Rich and the kids.  It was a very good day.

24. What was one thing that would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

I would have been so much happier if Lou did not have to live in Boise.

25. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?

I discovered plaid buttonup shirts. I wore more than plain tee-shirts yay!

26. What kept you sane?

My good friends, Robin, Rachelle and Alyssa. My sweet kids being so so good when Lou was gone (crazy that he was only gone from September on but seems like much much longer).  Playing the piano, emailing with my Jazz BFF, Monica.

Present from Monica

27. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012.

Learning to trust that Lou can receive the answers for our family.  I love having control and knowing exactly what is gong to happen and being in charge, this year I have been humbled. I have also learned that I can always be happy.

I swear that I commented on this before but that's okay, I'll say it again! I loved this post! I'm so glad that we have some of the same goals so that we can help each other out. Awesome! I will miss you a ton when you move to Boise, but then I will have one more reason to visit. :) Love you Diana!
