One of the benefits of Lou being gone is I can do exactly what I want at night without worrying about what Lou wants to do too.
Lately I have taken to singing. I love singing. I love playing songs off of our music collection or youtube and start singing along. I pull the lyrics up off the internet and sing my little heart out, sometimes I even close my eyes. I can belt it out, I can pause, I can sing as if no one is listening because lets face it no one is listening.
Tonights first song: Memory as sung by Barbara Streisand.
Sharon sang this as an audition to some musical when she was six. I remember Sharon standing in front of the big mirror in our foyer singing and singing. A six year old singing Memory.
Tonight I pictured Sharon, I sang my heart out. I felt the song, that's what I can do when Lou is not at home.
Sometimes I think of the scene from About a Boy where Will is in Marcus's apartment. Marcus and Fiona are signing "Killing Me Softly" and Will says "The worst part is when they close their eyes."

Good for you my little sister! What is it about singing that makes our heart's soar? For me it can be anywhere. The kids know that if the radio is on it is free regin for mom and they better just keep the comments to themselves. I need to play the piano more and sing at the same time. Songs from The Phantom of the Opera and FFF song-book of Rigalleto are the coolest!
Our guitar teacher has us sing the songs in class when we play and you can tell the people who are comfortable singing and the ones who just don't. I find it sad that not everyone loves to pretend they are in the middle of a huge stage or screen belting it out.
So, "Sing, Sing a Song, make it simple to last the whole night long!"
Love you,
Sandi
You don't worry about waking the kids up? :)
I think that is awesome though. I love it when I can "feel" the song too. Good for the soul.
That part in About A Boy is hilarious
That's awesome! I sing really loud in my car, and it always lifts my spirits.
I remember laughing so hard at that part in About A Boy...
