As we were listening to that iconic song by Cass Elliot, Kira turned to me and said, how do I know this song. I love this song, it speaks to me.
Kira's little comment warmed my heart. I love having songs speak to me. LOVE. Kira is eight but she is a mature eight. I feel like this girl is coming into her own more each passing day. Kira has always known who she is but its different now. Kira will be herself no matter who is there, she knows its important to be herself and not try to be someone else. Kira has a good group of friends at school, smart girls who are in gifted and talented with her.
Kira is in show choir, the girls are singing the song "You Light Up My Life" the girls are suppose to bring a framed picture of their crush or someone they love. Most girls are doing Justin Bieber or David Archuleta. Kira asked if she could bring a pic of Winnie the Pooh. (When she first asked me I didn't know what it was for then hearing the other girls talk about Bieber and Archuleta I am assuming what they were asked to bring).
Kira knows that she is going to serve a mission, she wants to serve in Paris. Kira wants to be an engineer. Kira is certain she is going to BYU. I think Kira knows more what she wants out of life at eight, then I do now.
I think Make Your Kind of Music is perfect for Kira, because that's what she does.

Diana, I can ascertain from what you write that Kira is a special individual. How wonderful to know who she is and what she wants to do with her life at such a young age. I am looking forward to sharing time with her and getting to know this beautiful little girl.
Love, Mary
Beautiful!
