Parent Teacher Conference, Growing Up in Provo

Well four days without blogging.  Sorry ( I guess I am apologizing to me). It gets so busy without Lou around.

Today we had parent teacher conference.  I love how kind Kira and Josh's teachers are.  I can tell they really care about my children.  Kira is above grade level in every single subject, she is such a smart girl.  Again they told me how Kira makes everyone feel loved and so special.  One of her teachers said how yesterday she was talking with a boy about his "lap book" (a book they made about an interest, its really cool).  Her teacher said how Kira was so excited about this boy's book and told him how great it was in such an excited voice, telling him what a good job he did, asking him questions about it.  They said they love how Kira can give compliments to others and show such genuine care.  I think I was blushing with how much they were praising Kira.  They said how Kira talks a lot but how they have a hard time telling her to stop because its usually right on topic and how nice she is they don't want to hurt her feelings.  We are so lucky to have such good teachers.

Kira always excited!
Josh's teachers were also very kind while talking about Josh.  They did have a few concerns but overall he is doing well. French is very hard for him. I just would hate to pull him out because I love his teachers so much, his English teacher does so much and requires a lot from them which I think is very good for Josh.  They told me that Josh is behaved in class.  Josh does well at his homework with me, i think he made get a little nervous in school.  Josh continues to get better at reading which I think helps with everything.  Josh loves math and does well.

Yesterday Day's Market had an open house. It was seriously so so crowded.  We loved all the free samples,  There was such a hustle and bustle in the air. I almost felt like I was in Stars Hollow, in a small market seeing friends from church and school. They had all kinds of specials. Including Peppermint Ice cream for $1.79

I was driving to the bank I think yesterday and I just got so sad thinking about moving from Provo. I love Provo its my home. I read that scripture in Mosiah 18 earlier in the day:

30 And now it came to pass that all this was done in Mormon, yea, by the awaters of Mormon, in the forest that was near the waters of Mormon; yea, the place of Mormon, the waters of Mormon, the forest of Mormon, how beautiful are they to the eyes of them who there came to the knowledge of their Redeemer; yea, and how blessed are they, for they shall bsing to his praise forever.
I love this verse so very much, it came to mind while I was driving down University Avenue. I remember during my homecoming speech after my mission. I referenced this scripture. I talked about the people I taught and met and how I hoped how they saw Chicago how people saw Mormon in that verse. I saw Chicago that way after my mission. I loved that city because of the people and how much I grew and came to know myself on my mission.

I now feel the same way about Provo.  I love Provo. I don't think of anywhere else as home now. When people ask where I am from I always say "here but I grew up in Salt Lake" I love having spent nearly half my life in Provo.  I remember coming here as a young 18 year old girl, Provo was not home,  I remember crying in bed at Deseret Towers my first night thinking what the heck am I doing, I want to go home. Slowly and surely Provo became my home. I have learned more about myself here than anywhere else,  I have grown, matured, met Louis, met my dearest friends and of course became a mother here.  Provo is a part of me now. Its hard to picture myself anywhere else.

I hope I can grow to love Boise like I do Provo. We are looking at houses in Meridian.  A friend on twitter told me Meridian is like a little Provo, I hope that is true.

October is a Great Month!

I feel like sometimes because of Facebook, Twitter, now Instagram and of course my personal journals, this blog gets neglected, which is sad. I love this blog, I love going back and reading old posts. I want to be able to come back and read about this time in our life in a few years.

Lou is on his second tour in Boise.  I am getting more used to him being gone. Lou did come home for a few days at the end of September. We celebrated our anniversary.

yes everyone has seen this photo by now but hey its my blog.  Lou and I  October 2, 2012

Lou and I walked around City Creek and ate at the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Jeff and Leann watched Kira and Josh for us, they allowed them to spend the night.  It was great to have that one-on-one time with Lou since we *literally* did not get to see each other more than a few days out of the month.

Lately I have really felt so much better thyroid-wise.  I feel like I have more energy, I feel more fit, I feel more happy.  I hope I can always work with a doctor who listens to me and respects what I know about my body.

The kids had Fall Break the past few days.  It was a blast to have them home.  Lets be honest I was not looking forward to Fall break at all, not one bit.  I was worried that I'd feel that stress of when the kids used to be home all day and Lou was gone at work or school all day.  But nope we had a blast, the kids were great and I didn't tire or get frustrated with them home all day and Lou being gone.

It was not as cold as you would imagine with how Kira is dressed.  Nice Fall weather!
We did fun activities including : trips to Target, watching Halloween movies, reading Halloween books, playing with friends, Riverwoods, dinner with Nana and Gramps, dinner with the Jensens, friend's birthday party, and yummy treats.

Kira starts her musical practices tomorrow. I am helping out with the piano. Kira didn't get the lead of Virginia. Kira did get a solo and special dance numbers, we will find out more tomorrow. Kira was crushed but I think she will still have fun. (The musical is "Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus" its by Macy's. )

Kira and Josh's school pictures this year.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) the kids return to school.  I get to go back to my daily routines.  And in a few weeks we'll get to see Louis.
