Cute Friends and So So Many Early Out Days!

Kira had a playdate today with her cute friend Mia.  I like Mia a lot, she gets Kira.  I think we all need people who just get us.  The girls played Minecraft, then we went to the library.  We had lots of fun at the library, I talked to a friend Carol, we worked at the library together years ago. Carol still works there but now in the Children's department. The kids looked at their books, played hide-n-seek etc.  Fun fun times.

Next week the kids have three early out days because of parent teacher conferences.  Does anyone else's schools do this?  It drives me crazy, I hate all the early out days now.  They had two this week, and now three next week.  I dont' ever remember having this many early out days when I was in school. Yes we had early out Fridays like my kids do but that was about it.  Its hard to find a routine when Lou is gone, the kids get out early for 3/5 of the school week.

I will survive Lou being gone (again) and early out days... bring it!

Little Kira is Busy

Lou gets home in two days, yay!  Its weird how use we have gotten to him being gone all the time. I don't  like being used to it but I am grateful we are able to adapt to different situations and grow from them. It helps being busy and having happy kids. Here is some of the business and happiness this past week:

We are all feeling better,  I hope the sick bug stays away for a long time.  I am happy that I haven't been getting as sick lately as I used to when my thyroid was off.

It was nice to have the kids back in school this week.  They both love school a lot and are happy to have that routine everyday.  The kids have been especially happy the last few mornings to wake up and find snow on the ground.  Kira made a snowman today with the very little that was left in our yard and our neighbor's yard.

i have enjoyed the snow also. I like the change in weather and it melts as fast as it falls.  Yesterday it was cold and there was a little snow. I thought I'd stay home instead of going to the gym. I fought that instinct and went to the gym. I am glad I did, I do so much better when I work out in the morning, it makes me happy and more active the rest of the day.

Josh was a lucky boy tonight and got to go to the BYU basketball game with his Nana. We were all lucky to go out to dinner before the game.

Kira and I came home, she had ice cream and we watched a few episodes of Full House together before bed.  Kira was excited go to her room for bed to finish her book she started just yesterday.  It is a  Halloween book, one of the Rainbow Fairy books.  I love that that little girl loves to read so much.

I received an email tonight from one of Kira's teacher. She told me how happy Kira is in class and how nice she is to the other children. She said Kira's joie de vivre is contagious.  Kira is such a happy happy girl who is always trying to make other's happy.  It was a very nice email to receive.

Kira's little life is very busy right now with the musical, piano and she just started a dance class.  She enjoys it all though and she still has time to play so we're good for now.  The musical only goes till december so knowing that its a temporary business makes it fun.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!

I should blog about Kira's baptism that was on May 5th.  I am too tired right now and since its already way past due it can wait a little longer.

I am having a hard time believing that the kids just have a week and half left of school. This school year has gone by so fast.  Kira will be half way finished with elementary school, half way when school gets out. That is just crazy to me. My cute little princess moving on up to upper elementary school.

Speaking of school we FINALLY got the results back from Joshy's tests from way back when.  I had a meeting with his two teachers, the school psychologist, the special ed teacher, his speech teacher and someone who represented the principal.   Guess what... Joshy does NOT have a learning disability.  He scored high on his IQ tests. He had a 120 on his WISC which is really good (100 is average)  The part that Joshy struggled with was on a specialized reading test, he still struggles with sounds, we don't know why he is barely at where a first grader should be at the start of the year.  I am so happy that nothing is seriously wrong with him but I am still concerned at why he is struggling with sounds.

There were suggestions but we didn't decide on an IEP for him yet.  Ms. Garner suggested perhaps we might think of holding him back and having him repeat the 1st grade. I don't know how I feel about that. Ms. Garner said she is not saying he has to do that but it might make things easier on him so he starts ahead of the group next year in reading if he was to stay back, and since he is very young and very small for his age.  I think I would pull him out of French before we did that. I don't want him to struggle but I don't want him to feel like he isn't smart or that he is incapable of doing things.  I don't want the rest of his friends to move on and for him not to, to him not be in the same class as the kids in his primary class. I do want him to have the best chance at succeeding in school though... decisions decisions.

First Day of School!

I absolutely LOVE the first day of school, like seriously love it! I loved it as a child and I love it as a mom! Kira and Josh were extremely excited for it also. We went to back to school night last week and met the teachers, all of them seem nice. Both the kids have two teachers, a French teacher and an English teach.  Kira has a BOY teacher this year, and he plays the guitar! (that was the first thing Kira told me about her day) her english teacher seems cool, Kira says she is very nice and Mr. Jones is very very very nice.   Josh has a native teacher for his french teacher and a fun teacher for his english teacher.  Josh at first told me he didn't remember when I asked him about his day but after some prying he told me all about his day. He can already count to six in French! They went over rules, even demonstrating how to go down the slide and how not to go down the slide. He told me he played with Kaitlin and Moira every recess, they were all so excited to see each other. He said they gave him HUGE hugs.

I love this time of year, it was dang hot but guess what, now that school is in session, the Fall will soon follow, and I can't wait!
