The Hike that Wasn't

Yesterday we actually had plans for the holiday, yes we actually did although we have no family close. For about 4 days now we had been planning a 4th of July hike. Lou and I were both excited, Kira was excited to be in her backpack and well I guess Josh would have been excited if he knew what was going on. We were going to hike Cylde Lake. It is a five mile loop, easy hike around the lake. It is in the High Uintah's Wilderness area. We made the 1 1/2 hour drive up there to find out there was a lot of lightening and it just started to rain. So we turned around and drove home. It was disappointing but the drive was a lot of fun. We will just have to go on Saturday instead.
We did have a fun 4th. We put the kids down for a nap when we got home, napped ourselves. Then we all took a walk to the "Creamery on Ninth" for dinner and icecream. Kira saw senior missionaries there and had a great time talking to them. She sure loves grandparents. I hope everyone had a fun 4th also.

That sounds fun. Sorry it was yucky weather. The creamery sounds yummy, though. We had a bbq with Z's family and then went to Superman, which we loved. We just barely made it to the big Peterson shindig and caught the finale fireworks and then came home and went to bed. Not too much going on, but a really fun day all in all. Missed you!

What a bummer! I have never heard of that hike- sounds like it would have been beautiful! I hope you really do go this weekend and take a lot of pictures. Glad you still were able to have a family day and enjoy eachother.

Any outing that ends with ice cream is a good thing. Sorry your hike went bust, but at least you had a nice drive together. Naps are a bonus too.
