Goodbye Eeyore

Nana left this morning to go to Ogden to spend time with her sister, Marlene. We are meeting up with them tomorrow to ride the Heber Creeper. I keep on telling Kira that we'll see Nana tomorrow (I don't' know if she even knows what tomorrow means) and when we see her we'll get to ride a big train. Kira just loves trains. Kira wasn't as sad as I thought she'd be, I think she thinks Nana is coming back sometime today, I guess we'll see how she does when Nana doesn't come back tonight. We will get to see Nana a lot before she goes to Milwaukee to help Miriam when her baby comes. Hopefully Miri will keep Sadie in until we can celebrate Josh's and Nana's birthdays on the 16th. We are all ready to throw a party though if Miri does go into labor early.
Yesterday was a big day for all of us. Little Kira has a very very very big irrational fear of peek-a-boo Eeyore. I bought Kira that Eeyore for her first birthday. Kira and I saw a commercial for it shortly before her birthday and she laughed and laughed, I though perfect, that can be her big birthday present. When Kira opened that gift she was excited and wanted to play with it right away. The next morning I got it out for her to play with and Kira freaked out. Kira hardly ever freaks out about anything so this was quite strange behavior for her. Kira wanted nothing to do with her new Eeyore. I couldn't understand what changed from one night to the next morning but something must have changed. Every once in awhile we tried to let her play with it and she always would freak out. In the beginning she would associate the fear of peek-a-boo Eeyore with all Eeyores, after awhile she didn't mind other eeyores. We've kept that Eeyore in her room for the last 15 months, as long as she knows where it is at and we don't make her play with it, she usually does fine.We thought by now she would have out grown her fear of that toy but we were quite mistaken. Lou had a great idea of putting the Eeyore in Josh's room and letting Josh play with it. The first time Kira was in her room after Lou but the peek-a-boo Eeyore in Josh's room, Kira freaked out. Kira was so afraid because she didn't know where he was. How funny is that? As long as she knew where it was at she could control her fear but as soon as it was moved she got afraid again. Yesterday Nana was playing blocks with Kira, one of her blocks has an eeyore on it, Kira screamed and wanted to go in her bed. Apparently moving Eeyore heightened her fear again to all eeyores. We decided we just needed to get rid of Eeyore, we didn't want to throw it away because it's a nice toy, we didn't want to give it to a friend, because we thought Kira would start associating the eeyore with that friend, and not want to play with her anymore. We decided lets take it to the DI but have Kira with us so she could see it go bye-bye. At first Kira was uncomfortable with eeyore in the car with us but she got use to it, we drove to DI, and made sure she saw the DI worker take Eeyore from us. Kira was so happy after that, from the time we left DI until her bedtime we repeatedly asked her where Eeyore was and she'd say "all gone". We told her the man would take Eeyore back to the Hunderd Acre Wood. Hopefully that will be the end of her irrational Eeyore fear.
Now if we can just get her to not be afraid of the doctor. We are thinking of getting a new pediatritan in a different office. Our doctor is always on medial leave lately so it would be an opportune time. We think a lot of her fear is associated with the building, so maybe a new building and a new nurse and doctor would mean no fear.
I orignally posted with a picture of peek-a-boo eeyore but I thought better, and thought I don't want Kira to be afraid of computer, when she see it.

That is so funny! Mya used to be like that with this little dragon that would play twinkle little star and its nose would light up. Luckily she got over that one. Good idea with the DI and letting her watch it. If you want a good doctor and don't mind driving- Dr. Egan in Lehi is awesome.
