Yesterday was my 30th birthday. I don't feel like I'm out of my 20's but maybe that just takes time since for 10 years I was in them. I like 30 so far and I don't feel outrageously old. Yesterday was such a fantastic day. Lou made me breakfast, he made pancakes, really the only fancy breakfast food I like. The kids were super angel kids all day. Kira actually took over a 4 hour nap. Being nearly 3 that hardly happens anymore so I was so happy it happened on my birthday.
I received a lot of good mail, which is always fun to have arrive on your birthday. I received a package from Karli, it had a beautiful canvas that she made me (see picture above). Jill sent me some really cute cards. I love receiving stationary, I love writing letters to people and Natasha from our blogging community sent me some really cute chipboard letters and a stamp and stickers. My visiting teachers brought over flowers, so I really felt loved by everything. Today I received more good mail, a very sweet card from Amy M. A very cute card from my sister Sandi, and a package from Kristi Cutler, which contained tons and tons of ribbons. I feel blessed, that so many people remembered me on my birthday even people I have never met personally. I also received Happy Birthday emails (including virtual flowers from Robin) beautiful posts about me on Sharon and Karli's blogs and comments on our blog. I received phone calls from my sisters (including my sister-in-law Miriam) and parents (which I missed) and even from Lou's 19 year old brother, Mark.
Yesterday was also spent trying to track down a package that Sharon sent me 2 weeks ago. We finally realized she sent it to an address we had 3 years ago. We've tried going over there several times but unfortunately they haven't been home, hopefully we can get that package soon.
Lou's parents got into town yesterday. They are moving here after living 3 1/2 years in Singapore. We are very excited! They got to our house about 4:30 yesterday. Josh was a little apprehensive at first with them but warmed up pretty quickly. Kira didn't wake up from her nap until after 6 so Leann (Lou's mom) went up and got her out when she woke up. Kira was very excited to see her Nana. Louis was able to leave his night class early so we all went to dinner to Carrabas. The kids did so well and we all enjoyed ourselves so much. I had a frozen strawberry- lemonade that was probably one of the best drinks I've ever had. It was nice spending time with them and realize that we don't have to squeeze in so many activities in a 2 week span (like we usually have to do when they're in town) it was nice to know that we'd be seeing them on Saturday and whenever after that. Kira is very excited that she gets to see her Nana and Gramps more often. I'm sure Josh will be too. I received a lot of nice things from Jeff and Leann for my birthday, a beautiful purse from China, black pearls (necklace and earrings) and a heart necklace and some cash. They are always so generous with me and make me feel loved and like I'm their daughter. It's so nice to have in-laws that treat you like you're one of their own.
After we came home from the restaurant and put the kids to bed Lou gave me presents from him and the kids. He bought me a very cute bag from the Gap (from the kids) and beautiful hoop earrings and a matching necklace from Bannnana Republic. After that we watch the very end of the Jazz game where they were absolutely killing the Bobcats ( a nice birthday present from the Jazz to me) until Jessie, Timm and Robin came over for games. Jessie made a delicious cake and brought over ice cream, she also make me a very funny card. I so much appreciate them coming over. Jessie and Timm usually go to bed pretty early during the week but they were here till after midnight it made me feel really special on my birthday. Jessie also volunteered to watch my kids for a few hours some time this week so I can go out and have time for myself.
So far being 30 is great. I want to thank everyone who made my birthday so special.

Happy (late) Birthday! I will be 32 this year and really I love it. What could be worse than my 20's when I was trying in all the wrong ways to figure it out. So glad you had a happy day. Welcome to the 30's...
I'm so glad you had a great birthday! That canvas from Karli is great (I thought Jessie might have made it for you when I first saw it), that's such a thoughtful gift.
The 30's are a great time of life, plus you look way younger so you've got the best of both worlds.
Diana,
Glad you had such a great birthday! And, that Jeff & Leanne were there to help spoil you. That certainly is fun! Glad you will finally have parents on your side of the world. It's a lot of fun and the kids will love it.
Hopefully we can see you all soon! I'm glad you have such great friends there. I'd love to see you with your pearls and other jewelry on in pictures! Love you!
Karli
That canvas Karli made you is awesome - what a treasure! Glad you enjoyed a nice birthday. I'm in my 30's and so far, so good.
Holy Cow! I don't think I have ever received that much attention on my birthday (or even several birthdays combined). Now I don't know whether to feel like the ultimate loser because I didn't get you anything or if I should feel grateful, 'cause with so much going on you probably didn't notice :). I am glad it was a wonderful day for you.

Happy birthday! Sounds like you had a stellar day! I love birthdays--I think they're celebrations for everyone involved! That's neat your in-laws are moving back. I grew up with my grandparents around and it was so cool. Kira and Josh will be so glad that they will have had that experience--it's awesome!
