A Song of the Heart

I have always had a love of the hymns, I credit that love to my Dad and my Grandma Field. For as long as I can remember anytime I would go to my Grandma's house she would have me sit down at the piano and play hymns for her. Sometimes she and my Dad would sing a long , other times my Dad and sister would play their violins and sometimes it would just be me playing but the spirit was always there and it was always strong.
On Sunday I was talking to my Dad about the hymns we sang in Sacrament Meeting on Sunday and how disappointed I was that there was only one Easter hymn in the program. We then talked about the popularity and unpopularity of certain hymns. We feel there should always be a popular hymn during Sacrament meeting. Anyways it got me thinking about how I would sit down and play through the hymn book straight through not skipping hymns, playing every hymn even the unfamiliar ones.
Today I decided to do that again. I love the feeling I have when I play the hymns. I love how familiar my fingers are with the notes on my favorite hymns and I love when I discover a new favorite hymn that maybe isn't one of the popular ones.

For My Soul Delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me.

I love just going through the hymn book and playing them all! It's cathartic and is good for inviting the spirit--I love it!
