Today I went to the doctor and the doctor (not even a real doctor a resident) made me feel like I was a hypochondriac. I am not the type of person who goes to the doctor for everything and anything. Lou really had to push me to even call the doctor. For the last year or so I've been bruising really easily and for no apparent reason. I don't bang into things and do anything that would cause bruising easily. Well lately I've been getting bruises again. I have a real nasty one under my arm that is continually getting worse and for the past 4 days my left arm (the arm with the bruise) has been going numb and aching all the time. So I call the doctor and set an appointment (which I hate doing) the doctor totally dismisses my bruising by saying well some people bruise easily. Meanwhile I think there is a difference between bruising easily and getting bruises for no reason. He said we COULD do some testing but it's HIGHLY unlikely that I'd have a blood disorder but it really is up to me if I REALLY want to do it. He made me feel like I was that hypochondriac on Scrubs when Dr. Cox tells him they can do a really painful test but it's so unlikely that he has the disease that it's not worth the pain and he made that guy feel like a fool but the guy ended up having the disease. Anyways the doctor was dumb and just told me to take ibuprofen (I told him I was taking Advil and he said yeah I think thats the same.. great confidence in this guy) and to rest my arm. Rest my arm? He realizes I have a 3 year old and nearly 2 year old. Geez I could've told myself to take advil (which I did or Lou told me to) and to move the position my arm is in when it hurts. Oh get this when I first told him my arm hurt he asked if I slept on it last night because sometimes that can make an arm hurt! Yep I didn't know that and think of that.
Anyways if anyone here in Utah county knows a good doctor I could go to I'd appreciate it or if anyone has experience with bruising and aching limbs....

This is so weird Diana. I hate idiot doctors- or at least ones that act like you are seeing too much into your symptoms. I used to bruise really easily when I was a teenager and a doctor told me it was because I wasn't getting enough iron. I started to take a supplement and it helped. Have you researched it online and found anything that it could be?
For doctors...Daniel Egan is the best for us. He is a family doctor and I love their whole staff and his bedside manner. He is in Lehi right off the main exit.
Hope you find something out soon!
Condescending doctors are so infuriating! I thought I finally found one I liked after living here for 9 years, but now she is not seeing patients anymore...
My friend bruises super easily (like she doesn't even know she has one until she sees it) and like Hannah said, it's because she's anemic and doesn't get enough iron. That doctor is such an idiot!! I hate mean doctors--they're supposed to make you feel better, not stupid!
Hey girl! I was just browsing blogs and saw this post and thought I might help you out. :) With all of my health issues, a good doctor is very important to me, and I found an awesome doctor when I was in Provo. Her name is Dr. Shelly Savage, and her office is on State/500 West on the border of Provo and Orem. She's very knowledgeable, and is good at listening to your concerns and addressing them appropriately. I think she's actually a family practitioner as well but I'm not sure. Also, she has an excellent nurse practitioner-I can't remember her name-that I had absolute confidence in and worked with a lot. She was wonderful! Their office staff was great too! I highly recommend it!
I hope that helps a little. :) Also, I would meet with one of them first, and if there are still some concerns, you may want to go to a naturopath. I've been working with one who supplements what I am doing with my other physicians. But, a good naturopath is also very hard to find and I didn't go to any in Provo so I can't make any recommendations there. Sorry!
Anyhow, take care girl! Definitely get in to the doctor soon. And increase the iron and protein between now and then.
Love ya!
