Passion

I need a passion. I feel like my life is lacking something. I realized last night why I was so upset about not getting the blogging position obviously I was upset because I love the Jazz and blogging for them would be a dream come true but there was something else; its, because I wanted to belong to something, to be involved with something. I love my life, I love my family, my friends, my church calling but right now I just need something else also.

What do you enjoy doing? What do you see others doing and long to do as well? What do you find purpose in? I know you took sewing classes a while ago- maybe you could get involved in a quilt block exchange type thing, or sewing for a cause? Volunteering is always a good thing, and for me it was good outside of my direct community so I met a lot of people I didn't already know. Container gardening is rewarding but does make somewhat of a mess. Just some ideas- sometimes doing something totally out of your comfort zone might surprise you.

I agree that we all need something that is for us- something to be passionate about that keeps us going. Hope you find yours soon!

Hmmm, this is interesting. I would spend some quality time online taking personality quizzes and interest quizzes to see if there is a pattern in things you like. Maybe you'll find something that triggers a desire. I remember watching Oprah a few years ago and she was talking about finding your passion and the advice was to look to your childhood and try to remember what you loved to do. Maybe you could stumble onto something that way.

Diana,

Sorry you didn't get the jazz position, I know that is a bummer. I agree that you need a passion that is just yours. I think we all need something that we feel we can go to when we're not feeling great that will lift us up.

Like Hannah, I thought first of your sewing abilities...what if you got into that more heavily? There are so many great quilt and fabric shops in Utah and a square a month club would be way fun...

Keep me posted.

Diana-
You have great friends with great advice. You know, even though you don't crochet a Lot there are granny square blocks that you can make and send to a few online sites or to the One Heart site (osmonds or local groups) they make the blocks into blankets and give them to all kinds of deserving people.

OR you could give piano lessons, that would challenge you & bring in a little money. Your kids are old enough now that you could teach a few kids and they would be fine. Kyler had a teacher that had little ones, she either taught when they were napping or while they were having quiet time. She really loved it and so did Kyler!

But the sewing thing is a great idea too!

OR what about being a children's advocate for the courts since you were going to do counseling for a career. I know, that this involves kids and maybe that is not what you would like to do, but you could be an advocate for teens you would be good with them.

Whatever you decide to do, you will be great at it!

don't be like me and wait until you are 38 to decide what you want to do, just run with it and fly!!!

I agree, life is so much more fulfilling when you are passionate about something (or more than one thing!).

I didn't know that you were a seamstress. When I first took up quilting many years ago, I joined an online quilting guild. It was fun to chat with other quilters, learn new tips and techniques, and I joined a few block exchanges. That's an easy way to join a community of sorts.

I like Hannah's idea of volunteering -- service always takes us outside of ourselves and it's so great that we can help others and ourselves at the same time!

I also liked Jill's idea of going back to your childhood to find what you really enjoy. Keep us posted!
