A Basketball Junkie and a Lesson in Frugality

Last night I did something I've never done before. I went to a basketball game by myself. Now I've never been to a movie by myself or any other form of entertainment by myself but it just seemed worth it to me. The Utah Flash. Utah's new NBA D-League team had their first ever home game last night. They currently play at the McKay Event's Center at UVSC. I had totally forgotten about the game until about 5:30 pm yesterday so we didn't really have time to get a babysitter so I went by myself. I just had to be a part of it. The tickets are really cheap for the seats that you get, they timeouts and half time entertainment were a lot of fun and the basketball was pretty good. It wasn't exciting as a Jazz game but quicker and better than college basketball, plus I got a free Utah Flash tee-shirt. We found out that if you buy your tickets ahead of time at Bajios they're 2 for 1 so Lou and I will probably go together soon to a game. I had such a great time by myself I thought I might feel a little self conscious but I didn't at all. The Flash lost the game by 2 pts. They hit a 3 pointer with 1.6 seconds left to tie the game, the entire arena erupted but the opposing team hit the buzzer beater and won.
So it's the end of the month and we pretty much spent the allotment we designate toward our food budget. We could buy more but I really want to stick to our budget so we can save as much as possible and just to see if I'm disciplined enough. We don't have much food left in the fridge and the pantry is running low but it's been kind of fun being creative about what we eat.

Hey sorry I couldn't call you back last night--I had the detention center volunteering. I'm glad you had fun though! And yay for being creative!

cute blog template! love it. gets me in the mood for the season. fun for you to go to the game by yourself. we were offered tickets to a game tomorrow night, but we aren't going. too much going on.

what kind of budget were you trying for your food and all that? i'd love to hear about it. way to be frugal! the months almost over, too. (:

Every now and then I have to get a little creative too from lack of planning appropriately- I actually like it because it gets new things on the table and keeps the stuff in our cupboards rotating. Sticking to a budget is so great!

Budget? What's that? I'm so terrible about sticking to a budget. I don't even track my money. It's irresponsible, and every month when I have to ask Jeremy for more money I feel terrible. Maybe I fell a New Year's resolution coming on. I hope your money replenishes soon! And good luck with the pantry eating. Think of it as practice should you have to live off of food storage!
