Saturday I went to the library and signed up for the summer reading program. I love to read. I find then when I'm reading I find myself. I love relating to different characters and learning from their lives. Right now Lou and I don't have much money for the extras of life, (ie. to travel, go to plays, sporting events, put my kids in private school, buy nice things for ourselves etc). There are so many things that I want to do during my life but I realize there is a time for everything and well now is not the time for much but through books I can experience through others what I can't yet experience for myself.
Good Quotes on Reading-
"Once you learn to read, you will be forever free."
— Frederick Douglass
"Children are made readers on the laps of their parents."
— Emilie Buchwald
"There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all."
— Jacqueline Kennedy
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go."
— Dr. Seuss, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!"
"The man who does not read good books is no better than the man who can't."
— Mark Twain

Great post, Diana! I love the quote by Jaquie Kennedy the most. Love of reading and books is one thing that I am trying to pass on to Daniel. I've noticed now that he is getting older, reading books opens up so much conversation between the two of us. Anyway, I just love this post.
I wish I had remembered to sign up my kids. I always think of it after all the free books and tee shirts have been given out! Right now I have a big fine for a lost DVD so I have been avoiding the library! Ha ha, I gotta go take care of that. Happy Reading!
reading is definitely one of my favorite passtimes...i am reading the twilight series for the second time right now and a few other books on the side. A couple good ones I've read recently are: "Mothering with Spiritual Power," "The Last Lecture," and "An hour to live, An hour to love." We don't have too big of a selection in our library in town, so be grateful for the big libraries where you live! I wish we had hundreds more books and often have to wait for them to order one in for me from another library. Right now I'm trying to get my hands on one called, "into the wild," (there was a movie made from it)... Hope you're having a great day!

Summer reading programs are one of the best parts of summer! I hope you will post the ones that you guys loved! I'm always looking for new good books.
Oh, and I am going to call you! I've just been crazy busy since you called--lots of visiting family, preschool end of the year stuff, etc. I'm going on vacation next week for 9 days, so I'll call you when I get home. I'd love to get together!
I love reading! Those reading quotes are great--I've been thinking about you too Diana! I miss you guys!
I agree...reading is the best thing to do. It's so fun to lose yourself in a book and forget about your cares for a little while. Have you read anything good lately? I've been reading novels based on Amish communities and customs. I love them because they have a romance story, there is no swearing and no naughtiness. :)
Wanda E. Brunstetter is my favorite "Amish" author.
