The Christmas has gone by so quickly and I've hardly posted on my blog. We have done many Christmasy things that I don't want to forget.
Our ward Christmas party was on the 13th. Kira for weeks had been looking forward to it. Many many times she would ask about the dinner at the church. That Saturday was the first real snow we got that stuck. It made for a perfect day for a Christmas party. I only could stay for a few minutes as Ihad to work at the BYU basketball game. Lou said the kids had a lot of fun and the food was great (catered by Magelby's Fresh)
December 14th we had our Christmas program in our Sacrament program. I was in the choir. I love singing especially Christmas songs. I think the spirit was strong. Our special quartet (What Child is This) went really well. I played the piano for some songs. Its so nice to feel the spirit so strongly this time of year. I've been thinking about it alot. How everyone possesses the Light of Christ and how it is strong with everyone at Christmas time. It's what makes December the best month of the year.
That night we drove up to Salt Lake to see the lights on Temple Square. Leann and I laughed that we had to pick the coldest weekend to date to go see the lights. It was beauitful as usual. My favorite part is the Nativity on the lawn in front of the Visitors Center. I love the songs and the narrative.
Monday December 15th Joshy and I met Leann at the Trax station on 90th S and went up to the ESA. Kira had a horrible viral rash so her and Lou had to stay home. We took the Trax for free up to the ESA for the Christmas Sing-A-Long. It was absolutely amazing. The whole lower bowl was pracitcally full. There was thousands of people singing Christmas songs. Part of the Utah Symphony accompanied us. Larry Miller spoke, he was teary eyed as usual, but it was touching none the less. He and the Jazz donated $5000 to a branch of the Utah National Guard serving in Iraq. They had a web cam showing the troop, on the jumbotron. There was some of the families of the men serving in the audience it was sweet. The event was free plus we got a free hotdog and soda, Bee tickets and Nascar tickets for free. Leann and I decided that we need to go to this every year but with everyone in the family. It was such a fun activity! Santa visited and the Jazz Bear. Josh loved it. He wanted to go give the Bear a hug. Josh also loved riding the trax.
The rest of the week I had Christmas gatherings with my book clubs. It was nice 3 bookclubs in one week.
Other fun things we've done is taking the kids to the mall to see Santa, playing in the snow, discovering that Joshy loves the song "Silent Night" he actually sings the words. (His Great Grandma Field from Germany would be so happy) . Receiving fun Christmas cards and packages in the mail. Getting a Christmas tree to borrow from Aunt Claire, decorating the house, watching Christmas movies, having Christmas themed FHEs and singing Christmas songs all the time.
I love this time of year and can't wait for tomorrow!
